ABOUT THE RETREAT

Enjoy two yoga sessions daily (attendance at all is optional J), with plenty of free time to play on the beach, explore amazing Mayan ruins, chill in a hammock, enjoy fine food and great company!

ABOUT LOIS

I’ve been practicing yoga steadily for 16 years, teaching for 15.  My teaching has evolved with my own growth on the mat, first in vinyasa-flow and Ashtanga, and then over the past decade in the magic of Anusara. Along the way I’ve been blessed to work intimately with some of the finest living masters, including Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, anatomy guru Leslie Kaminoff,  and my current teachers, Anusara founder John Friend and Tantric philosopher Douglas Brooks.  It’s not yoga if I can’t link what I’m doing on the mat to life off the mat, and I delight in helping students to make those connections.

While a lot of my teaching these days involves carrying Anusara to students and teachers around the globe, I’ve been leading retreats north and south of the border for over a decade, and they are hands-down the highlight of every year!  Watching students unfold amid nurturing natural beauty, having the chance to guide them steadily from practice to practice, day to day, sharing laughs and playtime from dawn till dusk and beyond . . . Life is good! Yoga is great!

ABOUT JESSICA

Many of you know Jessica from the Hamptons, where she cofounded Yoga Shanti, the ever-popular studio in Sag Harbor. This year, she’s gone out on her own to create Kamadeva, a boutique studio in East Hampton Village. I’ve known Jessica for 15 years, from when we were both just getting started as teachers. Over the years, she has become Jivamukti Certified, collected countless hours of Anusara yoga training, and is currently pursuing Iyengar Certification. Along the way, she’s raising two kids and training for multiple triathlons. I love Jessica’s passion and her humor, she has a down-to-earth take on yoga and it’s place in our lives.  Trust me, between the two of us, you will be in very good hands!
Jessica has led several retreats at Casa de Miel, and is happy to answer any questions you might have about our host.
